In 2015, Ellie's Heart Foundation was able to make its first monetary gift to the Children's Heart Group at Penn State Health's Children's hospital. In providing that gift we were asked to be part of something larger. The creation of a week long summer camp program for children with repaired heart defects and children with heart disease. The first Camp LionHeart was held in 2016. Since that time, Ellie's Heart Foundation, has been administering private donations such as those given during Raise the Region, and grants from the Children's Miracle Network to make Camp LionHeart a success year after year without asking families to pay anything to send their child to camp.
Since that time, we have been witness to memories being made, lifetime friendships formed. Acknowledgement that someone is not alone in their journey. That things CAN be done despite exertional limitations.
