We are a non-profit charitable organziation dedicated to promoting economic development opportunities, spurring neighborhood reinvestment, instilling pride and fostering a sense of community within the City of Sunbury and the surrounding area. We seek to preserve our heritage, embrace our current and historic diversity, and move the City towards becoming a regionally competitive 21st century urban center while maintaining our small-town character.
SRI uses several strategies to promote revitalization in Sunbury. Everything we do relates to our mission.
COMMUNITY PRIDE - Activities to bring people together and keep our environment beautiful for everyone to enjoy. Includes streetscape flower baskets/planters; river/community cleanups; hometown hero banners; and community gatherings.
SMALL BUSINESS ASSISTANCE - Collaborations to support small business - the backbone of our economy. Icludes learning opportunities; ThinkSunbury marketing; small business association; and connections to local, state, and federal resources.
DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION - Focused downtown revitalization initiatives by the Downtown Sunbury Team through the Blueprint Communities(c) Program. Includes implementation of the 5-year strategic plan for downtown revitalization; Main Street Designation and resources; and commercial or residential investment and development.
ARTS AND CULTURE - Investments in creative arts inject energy into the community and economy. Includes the Albright Center for the Arts programming and renovations; support for local artists such as musicians, actors, singers, and other performance artists; and public art projects such as sculptures and murals.
FESTIVALS AND EVENTS - Events large and small to support small businesses, uplift the community, attract visitors, and raise money for SRI's operating costs and programs. Includes annual events such as Brunch with Benefits, Beef and Brew Block Party, River Festival, and Summer Sunset Cruise-In and Concert, as well as a variety of smaller pop-up events throughout the year.
