STEP is a Community Action Agency and we believe in the promise of Community Action:

Community Action changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.

Founded in 1966 with just two programs - Project Head Start and the Neighborhood Job Corps - STEP is celebrating 60 years of growth and action in our community. In 2025, we supported 18,805 individuals, including 5,777 children, 5,811 adults age 60+, and 439 veterans. We impacted 10,683 households over the last year!
