unique in quality.
I think it's unique in quality. And I find joy and satisfaction in making gorgeous music with other musicians who find joy and satisfaction in the same thing.-Joanna, member for 20 years
I've always been fascinated by singing and I'm quite engaged with it! And to me, being a member of this choir makes me feel like a professional, as if I'm an adult singer, singing with all these wonderful people in which I feel comfort and presented with much opportunity for growth.-Colton, first year student member
I joined the Williamsport Chamber Choir as a means to start making music for me again, and being part of an ensemble where I can "fill my bucket" so to speak, instead of always pouring out in service of others.-Liz, second year member
The Williamsport Chamber Choir and Orchestra’s mission is to provide superb cultural entertainment for the people of the Williamsport area.
We provide an opportunity for outstanding singers,up-and-coming composers, and talented musicians to perform great choralliterature in a professional setting. Selected musicians are given the opportunity to perform solos and in the orchestra. Throughout the year, we perform avariety of music from classical choral works to choral arrangements of pop songs, making our concerts a truly enjoyable experience for all ages.
In 1999, local musician and conductor David Lassiter conceptualized the Williamsport Chamber Choir & Orchestra as an opportunity for trained regional singers who sought an opportunity to learn and sing high-quality, intriguing small-scale choral literature. With the assistance of friends and family, WCCO performed its first concert in December of 1999 at the Community Theater League. Since then, the choir has set a high standard of quality performances of a broad range of repertoire and the choir's educational outreach now sponsors three Youth Choirs. Concerts have included regional premieres with featured roles involving local soloists. Over the years, WCCO has been blessed with the leadership of the regions' top choral directors who have led collaborative performances with the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra, Billtown Brass. and the Nutcracker Ballet. WCCO is currently under the direction of Samuel Robinson, who is Director of Choirs at Williamsport Area High School and organist/choirmaster at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Williamsport, PA.
