In 2026, Susquehanna Health Foundation is committed to strengthening cancer care for our region by supporting UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Williamsport.

This year, our Raise the Region focus is singular and urgent: upgrading our radiation oncology technology with a new Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator.

Why This Matters

Radiation therapy is an important component of cancer treatment — about 50% of cancer patients receive some form of radiation during their care journey.

To continue providing the highest level of care, we must replace our current system. The new linear accelerator will provide:

● Faster treatments - Higher dose rates and advanced automation reduce treatment times, limit patient movement, and make the entire process more comfortable.
● Ultraprecision - Enhanced imaging and positioning tools allow clinicians to target tumors with exceptional accuracy, protecting surrounding healthy tissue.
● Better experience and outcomes - A smoother, more efficient, and more personalized treatment experience gives patients access to the same technology found at major academic cancer centers.
