Son Light House

Thank you for considering to donate to The Son Light House in Muncy!

Our Mission:  

Feed the hungry, clothe the needy and spread the word of salvation to the masses.

Established in 1982, by the late Wilbur Baskin, the Son Light House is a non-profit, ecumenical, community-supported resource that distributes food, clothing and furniture to eligible individuals and families. The Son Light House operates primarily off of donations from organizations such as local boy and girl scout troops, local Rotary and Lions clubs, individual donations, and the support from more than 45 other local churches! In the words of one of our directors, Ken Frey “We could not do this without the community support. We are all volunteers; nobody is paid. Ken and Delores Frey are the husband and wife directors who follow closely the words of Matthew 25: 35-40, which says, “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink . . . I needed clothes and you clothed me.”

The Son Light House’s volunteers distribute bagged and boxed food items that include desserts, bread and canned goods that are, for the most part, not easily spoiled. The mission and the sole reason for the distribution continue as indicated on the non-profit’s Facebook page that says, “To God be the glory.”

The Need: The Son Light House is asking for your donations during this year's Raise the Region specifically to support the update/maintenance of our building. As many know, this past year's funds supported the purchase and installation of a refrigeration unit in our building. This was a very costly undertaking for our non-profit organization, but through donations and the 2025 RTR campaign, we were able to have this need be met. This year, our funds raised will be supporting the Son Light House with another need, our flooring. We will be updating the inside of the building, and these funds will help with this cost, so that  we may continue serving our local community and addressing the food insecurity in Eastern Lycoming County. These updates to the building are costly, and a majority of our operating budget goes to food items, so every dollar raised here toward building updates counts! 

Our goal every year is to meet the goal set the prior year, in 2025 we raised $7,125 through Raise the Region, help us exceed that goal for 2026!
