Oasis Community Recovery Club is a local nonprofit based in downtown Shamokin that welcomes residents of the Shamokin and Coal Township communities, as well as welcoming fellowship from any visitors from surrounding communities who are in drug and alcohol recovery.

Our purpose is to prevent relapse and give individuals a place to go to rebuild a sense of social “normalcy”. Our focus has been to provide opportunities for people in recovery to gather in “no pressure” social environments, to provide people in recovery a chance to give back to their community through volunteerism, and to provide awareness and resources for maintaining sobriety.

Oasis provides meeting space for a robust selection of support groups, partners with state and local organizations for community enrichment, and opens its doors to partner with sister recovery groups for public events. We provide Drop-in hours with a Certified Recovery Specialist on site ready to help any individual at whatever phase of recovery they are at. During Drop-in hours we also provide a food pantry, a partnership with a monthly diaper pantry, an employment reentry program, a wellness nurse and a therapy dog!

Oasis also sponsors people in recovery who are transitioning to sober living or independent living through the Brock Long Memorial Fund. This fund works with applicants to provide immediate assistance if they are struggling to secure basic needs such as: food, household items, baby food/formula, personal care items, soft furnishings, education supplies, utility reinstatement, and other emergency needs. Benefactors of the Brock Long Memorial Fund volunteer with the club as a show of gratitude for the sponsorship.

Oasis is a non-profit club,  we always look for volunteers to help with facilities and during events. When opportunities arise, Oasis does community service projects in the Shamokin area. Our group has helped with maintenance and beautification projects in downtown Shamokin. We can work with any member of the public who wishes to fulfill community service requirements or who feels the need to dig in and help their community.

Coming up later this year with the help of a state grant, Oasis will be expanding our Drop-in hours to full-time. This will allow us to expand our programming and help more individuals in our community.
