Since 1988, our mission has been twofold--protect local, natural lands and educate the public on the value of preserving these spaces.
Over the past year, our nature-based educational programming has reached over 1,700 local residents, many of whom were able to connect with nature at a much deeper, more meaningful level and develop positive attitudes towards the stewardship of the natural world around them.
These programs are only made possible by generous donors who believe in the power of programming to connect others with nature.
We want to serve even more of our community members this year, but WE NEED YOUR HELP to do so.
Gifts from donors like you ensure that we can offer more programming and opportunities for our neighbors to learn about the importance of conserving our local, natural spaces.
Of the many places that we protect in the Susquehanna Valley, Glacier Pools Preserve--located near Hughesville in Lycoming County--is a 270-acre island of mature woods, wildflower meadows, and vernal (glacial) pools open to all for hiking, photography, birdwatching, and other low-impact recreation.
A major highlight of the property, besides its miles of trails and scenic vistas, is the annual salamander migration and spawning event. Many from all over the valley come here to witness this natural phenomenon.
Without the permanent protection and outdoor educational experiences that we provide, Glacier Pools Preserve and the unique natural opportunities it offers would be lost forever.
About Us: For the past 36 years, the Merrill W. Linn Land & Waterways Conservancy has protected woodlands, agricultural lands, streams and wetlands in Union, Snyder, Northumberland and surrounding counties. We maintain recreational spaces and trails for public enjoyment. These efforts are complemented by a very strong focus on public engagement to connect our communities to the beauty of nature around us. Throughout the year, the Linn Conservancy sponsors family-oriented events that bring attention to the special qualities to be enjoyed in our local natural environment. The Buffalo Creek Watershed Alliance, a division of the Linn Conservancy since 2002, has monitored Buffalo Creek’s water quality and has been instrumental in promoting stream protection and revitalization programs within the watershed.
