Laurel Mountain K9 Search & Rescue (LMSAR) is a local search team dedicated to assisting FIRE companies, Law Enforcement and Emergency Management in the search for lost or missing individuals.

The team formed in 2017, incorporated in 2018 and are continuing to focus on providing well trained searchers and certified K9 Teams. LMSAR consists of 15 members, 6 of which are certified by National Association of Search and Rescue at the Sartech 2 level. K9 Teams consist of Dog and Handler. We currently have one team dual certified in Trailing/Human Remains Detection, two certified Trailing K9s, and 2 certified Air Scent K9s with 5 other K9 teams at different stages of training.

The team offers public education on how to avoid becoming lost as well as what to do if that situation does arise. The team participates in public events promoting wilderness safety while introducing individuals to the K9 and human components of the team.

Mission

It is the mission of Laurel Mountain K9 Search & Rescue to provide professionally trained volunteers and certified canine teams in support of law enforcement, FIRE and emergency management in search and rescue operations.

Laurel Mountain also provides educational programming for students and civic groups about what to do to avoid becoming lost and what to do if they find themselves in that situation.
