Our LAPS shelter located at 630 Wildwood Boulevard in Williamsport is full of wonderful, adoptable cats! If you are looking for a new furry feline or two, you've got to come meet our residents.

Lycoming Animal Protection Society (LAPS) is a no-kill feline shelter and adoption center that provides care and adoption services for many homeless cats and kittens.  The goal of LAPS is to be a haven for unwanted and homeless cats in our community and to educate the community on the importance of spaying and neutering to control population. Our non-profit shelter helps to provide housing, food and medical care for these cats, as well as working toward finding them permanent loving homes through our adoption program.

As a volunteer-run organization, we rely solely on the generosity of our donors and funds raised through various community events. With the help of donations from supporters like you, we can provide a much-needed service within our community.  LAPS serves Lycoming, Union, Northumberland, and Clinton counties.

Giving Activity

Mission

Lycoming Animal Protection Society, Inc. (LAPS) is a non-profit animal welfare organization operating a "no-kill" animal shelter that is governed by a Board of Directors. It shall be the mission of the organization to promote the concept of the "no-kill" shelter with emphasis on surgical sterilization (spaying and neutering) as the most effective and humane means of the control and elimination of unwanted, abandoned and stray domestic animals. It is the intention of the LAPS shelter to provide housing and complete veterinary care, including spaying and neutering, for all animals admitted into the shelter, and to prepare the sheltered animals for adoption into permanent, safe, and healthy homes.

Animals shall be admitted to the shelter, regardless of their origin (family pet, abandoned, stray) as space and finances permit. Every animal admitted to the shelter shall be guaranteed a home for life at the shelter, in the event that the animal never becomes an adopted pet. Euthanasia shall never be employed to eliminate an unwanted animal brought to the shelter.

Through development of existing and future programs LAPS will utilize the "no-kill" shelter to offer services to the citizens of the community (perpetual care, long-term boarding) and continually explore options for expansion of the shelter philosophy. Dissemination of information regarding spaying and neutering, proper animal health care, and general information on domestic animal welfare shall be part of the education focus of LAPS.
