Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity

To have a roof over your head is a blessing indeed, but how much more does it mean to your family to own everything underneath that roof?

Homeownership has an impact on family stability, improved physical and mental health, higher student achievement in school, increased civic and social engagement, and the opportunity to build wealth for the next generation. 

Raise the Region has been a huge blessing to our organization. Since 2019, we have raised nearly $47K. This year, we aim to raise $10,000 to help us finish two houses.

Our mission: Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. We build decent and affordable homes in Lycoming County in partnership with families needing a decent place to live. Habitat homebuyers help build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Habitat houses follow these principles:

1. Habitat houses are modestly sized. They are large enough for the homeowner's needs but small enough to keep construction and maintenance costs affordable.

2. Habitat for Humanity uses quality, locally available building materials.

3. The labor of volunteers and partner families, efficient building methods, modest house sizes, and no-profit loans make it affordable for low-income families to purchase Habitat houses.

Who We Are

Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are recycled into a revolving Fund for Humanity used to build more houses.
