A thank you note to the construction volunteers from the new homeowners.
Having a roof over your head is a blessing. But owning everything beneath that roof - the memories, the stability and the sense of belonging - can change a family’s future forever.
Just ask Katelyn and her son, Cobey. This mother and son recently moved into their very first home in South Williamsport. For them, homeownership represents more than walls and windows, it’s a new beginning. When the hundreds of volunteers who gave their time and talents to build this home entered on construction work days, a printed message expressed their gratitude to those who helped make this dream possible:
“I would like to thank you whole heartedly for your hard work and time making it possible for my son and me to have a wonderful new home. We are beyond excited for this new chapter in our lives. It truly takes a kind person to donate their time and effort into lending a hand, and your help is beyond appreciated. We can’t thank you enough for all of your compassion and generosity.”
Stories like Katelyn and Cobey’s are only possible because of community support, and Raise the Region has been a tremendous blessing to our organization.
Since 2014, Raise the Region donors like you have helped raise more than $95,000 for the Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity. This year, our goal is to raise $10,000 to support year three of our five-year strategic plan to build 11 homes by 2027 in Williamsport and South Williamsport.
We see first-hand how homeownership strengthens families and communities. A safe, affordable home leads to:
Your Raise the Region support will go toward an exciting new project coming in June 2026 - our first-ever BLITZ BUILD!
A Blitz Build is a high-energy, high-impact homebuilding event in which a home will rise in ONE weekend through the collective efforts of local volunteers and a national group of experienced Habitat volunteers. With enough volunteer and financial support, we can start a second home that same weekend: TWO homes built in TWO days!
If you would like to learn more about how you can be a part of this exciting event, please join us for a community kickoff event at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Klump Auditorium on the Pennsylvania College of Technology campus. During the kickoff you can meet some of the out-of-town volunteers and learn more about other ways to help make this a successful event. RSVP now!
Bucknell University's Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter students are volunteering at home build sites in South Williamsport and Williamsport. Our home-building work is powered by hundreds of dedicated construction volunteers, including students from Pennsylvania College of Technology and Bucknell University’s Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter, who are actively serving on build sites in Williamsport and South Williamsport. In fact, our newest home at 508 Fifth Ave. in Williamsport is being built in partnership with Penn College students! I want to volunteer!
Our mission: Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. We partner with families in Lycoming County to build safe, affordable homes. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and purchase them with a traditional bank mortgage.
Who we are: Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat for Humanity builds and rehabilitates affordable housing with the help of partner families, construction volunteers, college students, churches and civic groups. Homes are sold at no profit and financed with traditional bank loans. Mortgage payments are recycled into a revolving fund, allowing us to build and repair more homes right here in our community.
Your gift during Raise the Region helps build more than houses, it builds hope.
Please join us and help build the future of affordable housing in Lycoming County.
