The Columbia County Volunteers in Medicine Clinic, located in Mifflinville, PA, provides FREE medical care to people with no insurance from Columbia, Montour, and lower Luzerne counties. The Clinic offers free primary and preventative healthcare for those between the ages of 18-64 that have total household incomes below 300% of federal poverty level.

CCVIM was incorporated in 2006 to serve local people who may not seek necessary medical care because they have no insurance and cannot afford huge medical bills. Some patients are suffering from chronic conditions or minor diseases, which can become serious, or even life-threatening, if left untreated. With your donation, you can be a part of the Clinic, something that will really make a difference in people's lives.

CCVIM is community-owned, and entirely supported through local donations- just like those we receive through RAISE THE REGION! We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, but we do not get any federal or state funds. Our patients are treated by retired and practicing medical providers who donate their time and knowledge. Organizations donate labs and x-rays. Pharmaceutical companies donate some of the necessary medications. Churches, community organizations, and some local farmers, donate food for patients who may be working 2 or 3 jobs, but cannot afford healthy meals for their families. CCVIM applies for grants from foundations to fund normal business operations. Through the generosity of some community members, the Clinic does not have any rent or mortgage, allowing the majority of donations to go to direct patient care. Your donation is tax deductible: EIN# 20-5695518.

The “Culture of Caring” is the heart and soul of every VIM clinic.  This approach is based on an ethical standard in medicine acknowledging that how people are treated during a clinic visit is as important as the actual medical care they receive.  We believe that people who come to a VIM clinic are our friends and neighbors, good people in need of help. Surviving on limited resources, they often exhibit great courage simply trying to get through each day. Recognizing the strengths of those in need and respecting their dignity, the “Culture of Caring” seeks to heal not only physical illness, but also the injury caused by bias, prejudice, and indifference.

Who We Are

Since then it has been our mission to provide free primary and preventative health services to the uninsured members of our community. Since we opened our doors we have continued to strive to expand our programs and services we offer to our community. Last year our clinic provided over $331,000 of care to over 500 patients.
