Central Pennsylvania Rowing Association (CPRA)

The Central Pennsylvania Rowing Association, through Raise the Region, is seeking donations to assist us in continuing to offer FREE youth rowing lessons. Since 2008, all local youth have been welcomed by CPRA.

Your donations to Raise the Region (raisetheregion.org) will be directed to our Youth Learn to Row program so we can continue to offer this as a FREE event. Several of our youth participants have gone on to row successfully in college. CPRA is the only organization in Pennsylvania between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia that offers youth rowing.

On March 6, 13 area youth participated in the World Rowing Virtual Indoor Sprints, a joint venture of Concept2 and World Rowing. The event was held at the Susquehanna University and is a part of gRow CPRA, a free 6- week indoor rowing erg program hosted by the Central Pennsylvania Rowing Association (CPRA).

CPRA was formed in 1989 by a loosely connected group of people who shared an interest in or a curiosity about rowing and a love of the river. We row on the North Branch of the Susquehanna River, which was awarded Pennsylvania’s 2023 River of the Year.

We received federal tax-exempt status as a 501(c)3 charitable and educational organization, whose mission is to educate and provide opportunities for youth and the general public to enjoy the health benefits of rowing recreationally as well as competitively. We offer Adult and Youth Learn to Row programs each summer, and some members of the club have competed successfully at various regattas in and around Pennsylvania.

The youth summer program on The Susquehanna (also known as Lake Augusta) will be held (June 9 through June 27) and is open to all youth aged 12-18, regardless of experience. CPRA also offers an adult learn-to-row program (June 17- July 1). More information is available at rowpa.org.
