West Branch Chorus

Who We Are

The West Branch Chorus, a local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS), is an ever-growing group of singing men recognized for their excellence in performance of a cappella music in the barbershop style. We are dedicated to supporting vocal music in our communities and in our local schools. Committed to musical excellence in the performance of barbershop harmony, the Lewisburg Chapter of BHS will 1) promote a fulfilling singing experience for each member through fellowship, the pursuit of excellence in choral and quartet singing activities, 2) challenge and encourage each member's development of vocal and performance skills, 3) create a supportive and enthusiastic atmosphere in which men of all ages and abilities can improve their musical skills, 4) strive for high quality and engaging entertainment, actively seeking opportunities for public performance, 5) contribute to the local communities in which we live by participating in community events and offering time, talent and funds to selected institutions and charitable organizations.

When people sing together,

1) it imoves their physical and emotional health,

2) builds healthier communities,

3) helps young people become healthier adults,

4) forges inter-generational bonds,

5) reduces barriers across diverse cultures or groups,

6) helps build healthy self-identity, and

7) helps people facing significant challenges.

If people singing together is good, more people singing together would be even better. 

The gift of harmony is too wonderful for us to keep to ourselves. It is a gift that we are not only compelled to share, but one that we now have the capability and unity of purpose to share with everyone. WE want to share it, with young and old, with people of every color and every stratum with city people and country people and everyone in between, because the world needs what we have. Harmony compels us all to blend, to cooperate, to create beauty. Indeed, to be in total harmony with each other. It's time to think of the gift of harmony, not just as a treasure for own enjoyment, but as a tool for direct social impact.
