Why support UCP Central PA? We work to empower people of diverse abilities to live a meaningful life through innovative support and services.

One example of the work fulfilling our mission is the Agency with Choice (AWS) program. AWS is participant-directed service. Participant Direction, also referred to as Self Direction, allows participants to have more control over where, when, and how their services and supports are received. Participants have a greater amount of choice and control than with a traditional model of service. Individuals can be the employer of the people who provide their participant-directed supports, or they can select a surrogate to take on the role of employer on their behalf. In order to be eligible, they must live in their own home or in the home of a family member or friend. 

Another program is the Community Participation Supports (CPS) program. CPS is a traditional center-based adult day program where individuals come together and are encouraged to experience meaningful personal growth, development, independence, and joy. Participants explore new hobbies, engage in social activities, visit local museums, parks, movies theaters and restaurants to participate fully in the local community all based on each individual's curiosity and needs. By engaging fully in the world around them, participants increase their independence, give back to the community as volunteers, pursue their dream, interests and desires, and even achieve their full employment potential. 

Both of these programs have participants who live, work, and volunteer in Snyder, Northumberland, Union, Montour, Columbia and Lycoming Counties.
