Repasz Band

Founded in 1831 the Repasz Band is one of the oldest continuous community bands in the United States. Our band is named after one of the longest, most dedicated, and honored directors, Daniel Repasz. The band was present and played, as a unit, at Appomattox to end the Civil War in 1865 and returned to play again for the 150th anniversary in 2015. Repasz Band traveled to New York City and performed for the dedication of President Grant's tomb in 1897 and again for the rededication in 1997. In honor of Repasz Band's 150th year, the band presented a concert at the White House in 1981. 
Looking forward, we will celebrate 200 years in 2031!

Who We Are

We bring to musical life old American park band shells with crowds lounging around on lawn chairs under the balmy summer sun. Red, white, and blue bunting is unfurled all around us as Old Glory soars above against a sapphire sky to the strains of the Star Spangled Banner and The Stars and Stripes Forever! 
And then later, the fireworks start . . .

In formal performance uniforms, we take the magnificent opulent stage at Williamsport’s own Community Arts Center to raise soaring melodies and gorgeous harmonies of the absolute best in contemporary, popular, and traditional concert band music!

Parading with an international audience and the freshly luminous faces of Little League Baseball, we bounce the strains of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" off center city buildings, as Williamsport Welcomes The World!

We stand in heartfelt pride of American patriotism and provide the musical context for solemn Flag Day observances as we have for decades. We stand in musical solidarity with our veterans and their associations as often as we can and are honored and privileged to be able to do so.

We make happy music on the lawns of various local hospitals, retirement centers, and nursing homes as we enjoy bringing a little pleasure and diversion to all our dear friends and family there.

We share bubbly musical cheer and jingling holiday spirits every yuletide season. Whether it’s our holiday concert itself, providing a musical escort for Santa as he arrives from the North Pole, or participating in many of the instrumental caroling groups supported by and with our Repasz Band members, we are delighted to join in “the chorus” every year as the snowflakes fly and joy is in the air.
