Who We Are

The MCHS are the care takers of 3 museums in the Danville area. Once the home of General William Montgomery, the Montgomery House Museum showcases what the home of Gen. Montgomery may have been with pieces of original furniture. Displays of pottery, fashions, Native American artifacts  and more are throughout the house. The Boyd House Museum houses one of the largest military collections in this part of the State. The displays are of guns, photos, uniforms and items from all of the U.S. wars. The highlight is the collection of Col. Charles W. Eckman, of Co. H, 93rd Regiment from Montour Co. who was wounded three times during the Civil War. Also in the Boyd House is the history of Montour Co from its iron history to the businesses, industries, canals through photos, items, and stories. The Mooresburg One Room Schoolhouse Museum is one of the few remaining schoolhouses set up as a period schoolhouse just waiting for the students to arrive to start their day of classes. The volunteer Board of Directors of the MCHS maintains these buildings with membership fees, gifts, donations and grants. We depend on our friends of Montour County.
