Columbia Montour Aging Office

The Columbia/Montour Aging Office provides in-home services to adults age 60 and over in the Columbia and Montour counties. We traditionally have been able to provide:

-Home-delivered meals; last year we provided 53,895 meals to older adults

-Personal Care/home support; last year we provided 13,474 hours of bathing assistance to older adults

-Caregiver Support Program; there are 33 consumers on this program, getting reimbursed up to $600/mth for expenses they occur

-Nursing services such as medication set-up; last year we provided this service 108 times

-reimbursement for nutritional supplements and incontinence supplies

-Transportation; last year we provided approximately 12,000 rides to older adults 60 and over

-Senior Centers; last year we had 9000 visits to our 5 centers and served 7880 meals to older adults there

-Protective Services; last year we received 588 reports of abuse, neglect and exploitation of older adults

-PA Medi Program- provides insurance education for Medicare eligible consumers

-Personal Emergency Response Systems; last year we provided this service to approximately 300 older adults

-Health and Wellness Programs; we provide health education programs to keep older adults healthy and active

Due to a $200,000 reduction in funding we have had to close a senior center, eliminate monitored personal emergency response systems, eliminate transportation for people ages 60-64 and reduce personal care to only one time per week.  We currently have a waiting list for all services including necessary bathing assistance and caregiver respite and home modifications.
